Ridgecrest Baptist Church

Hamilton, Ontario

June 23 -Aug. 2, 2007 (Dates are Flexible)

1 student requested

Ridgecrest Baptist Church is a unique work in many ways. It is an inner city work deep in the heart of Hamilton's troubled East end. As a result most of its members have come from troubled backgrounds. They deal daily with the pain of addiction recovery and broken relationships. They are symbols of God's immeasurable grace in light of human frailty. Roughly forty percent of their membership have physical or mental disabilities. In several cases Ridgecrest is the only church that offers a spiritual home to the marginalised in the city.

The work is difficult to be sure. The list of challenges both spiritual and physical is lengthy. Ridgecrest may lack the resources of many 'traditional' churches but they are wealthy in Spirit. Ridgecrest is a family. They love one another. Though marginalised by society, they are accepted by Christ.

Summer Missionaries will:

  • help in inner-city ministry among children/youth
  • work to make the library more friendly and accessible.
  • give attention to sharing the gospel with youth and children in the community.
